Oprah Winfrey & Gayle King Enjoy A Pajama Party In The Woods
Very sad news to pass along today … actress Barbara Billingsley, the woman who played the iconic TV mother June Cleaver in the 1950′s on the wildly successful TV series Leave It To Beaver, passed away of an undisclosed illness at the age of 94 in her home in Santa Monica, CA early yesterday morning. I think you’d be hard-pressed to find anyone in America over the age of 20 who doesn’t know and love the character of June Cleaver … she was the perfect mom … and she will be missed:
Barbara Billingsley, who wore a classy pearl necklace and dispensed pearls of wisdom as America’s quintessential mom on “Leave it to Beaver,” has died at age 94, a family spokeswoman said Saturday. The actress passed away at 2 a.m. (5 a.m. ET) Saturday at her home in Santa Monica, California, after a long illness, spokeswoman Judy Twersky said. A private memorial is being planned. Actor Jerry Mathers, who played Theodore “Beaver” Cleaver, called Billingsley a lifetime mentor. “Barbara was a patient advisor and teacher. She helped me along this challenging journey through life by showing me the importance of manners, and respect for others,” Mathers said in a statement. “She will be missed by all of her family, friends, fans and most especially by me.” Tony Dow, who played Beaver’s brother, Wally Cleaver, also reflected on Billingsley’s legacy. “She was as happy as a lark being recognized as America’s mom,” Dow told CNN’s Don Lemon. “She had a terrific life and had a wonderful impact on everybody she knew, and even people she didn’t know.” The actress won a new legion of fans in a brief, but memorable, scene in the 1980 send-up movie “Airplane.” “Oh, stewardess. I speak jive,” Billingsley said in her role — much different from her June Cleaver persona — as an elderly passenger comforting an ill man on the flight. She, the sick man and his seat companion engaged in street-slang banter. From the moment its catchy theme song sounded in black-and-white TV sets of the 1950s, “Leave it to Beaver” enthralled Americans during a time of relative prosperity and world peace. Its characters represented middle-class white America. June Cleaver dutifully pecked the cheek of her husband, Ward (played by the late Hugh Beaumont), when he came home to learn about the latest foibles — nothing serious — committed by Beaver and Wally. “Ward, I’m very worried about the Beaver,” was a common refrain. The parents would dispense moralistic advice to their sons. The boys’ friends included Lumpy and the obsequious Eddie Haskell, who avoided trouble and often buttered up Ward and June. “That’s a lovely dress you’re wearing, Mrs. Cleaver,” Eddie would typically say to Billingsley’s character. Perhaps fittingly, “Leave it to Beaver” was canceled in 1963 on the eve of the JFK assassination, the Vietnam War and the tumult of the 1960s … Asked once to compare real-life families to TV families, Billingsley responded, “I just wish that we could have more families like those. Family is so important, and I just don’t think we have enough people staying home with their babies and their children.”
Leave It To Beaver is one of those classic TV shows that leaves an indelible mark on those who are familiar with it … yes, the show painted am image of the perfect American family (which cynics can easily dismiss as pure fantasy) but there is something about the wholesomeness of the show that makes it so endearing. In the stable of classic TV moms, I’d argue that June Cleaver is among the most iconic … all due to the talent of Ms. Barbara Billingsley. In the 1980 film Airplane, Billingsley pretty much shocked everyone with her comedic portrayal of a white woman who could speak jive, proving that she was capable of entertaining more than one kind of audience. I’m sorry to hear that she suffered from a “long illness” but if there is any comfort that can be taken from this sad news, it’s that 94 is not a bad age to pass away. Barbara Billingsley will live in the hearts and minds of TV fans for all time … may she rest well in eternal peace.

Paul Greengrass To Direct Angelina Jolie In 'Cleopatra'?

Voldemort may not be on Harry Potter's Christmas card list, but Warner Bros. is sure digging the evil wizard. The $902 million worldwide take of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1" helped WB claim both the worldwide and domestic box office crowns for 2010, the studio announced today.
Warner Bros. tallied an unheard of $4.81 billion in worldwide grosses in 2010 to set a new industry record, decimating its own benchmark of $4.01 billion set in 2009. On the home front, Warners handily beat all comers with $1.88 billion. Paramount Pictures was the domestic runner-up with $1.71 billion in ticket sales, followed by Fox with $1.48 billion, Disney with $1.46 billion, Sony with $1.28 billion, Universal with $885.2 million, Summit with $518.8 million and Lionsgate with $516.9 million.
On the global stage, however, things weren't as cut and dry. Fox gave Warner Bros. a run for its money with $2.9 billion in ticket sales at the foreign B.O., while Warner Bros.' barely edged the studio out with a list-topping $2.93 billion. No studio had ever before reached $2.9 billion in international ticket sales for a given calendar year, so the fact that two studios eclipsed the mark is quite impressive.
"We're elated to reach these incredible numbers internationally," Veronika Kwan-Rubinek, President, Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures International, said in a statement. "This achievement is a testament to the company's strategy to make event films with global appeal, and it would not have been possible without the hard work and innovative thinking from our outstanding marketing and distribution teams around the world."
Globally, Disney nabbed the #3 spot with $2.3 billion, Paramount was third with $1.98 billion, Sony took fourth place with $1.38 billion and Universal rounded out the top five with $1.2 billion.
Are you shocked by these box office numbers?

Teen Mom's Amber Portwood had YET ANOTHER violent confrontation with baby daddy Gary Shirley, because she discovered that he was attempting to play her and his current girlfriend, Ashley!
Sources reveal that Amber had bonded with Ashley, under the impression that she and Shirley had split, and when she found out that she had been deceived, a fight broke out!
The insider explains:
"Amber said Gary was sending her flowers and texting her, saying he hadn't been talking to Ashley. Once they got to Gary's house, Amber hit Gary for trying to play both of them. When Amber learned that Gary was still communicating with Ashley, she got in Ashley's face like she was going to hit her. Amber was standing up for Ashley because he was talking shit, saying he was trying to use her to make Amber jealous. Amber almost hit him a few more times because he was talking shit about Ashley. He later called Ashley and left a long apology, but Amber was texting her all day with threatening messages like, 'Don't text me anymore for your sake.'"
Just lovely, as always, bb!
We sincerely hope that this girl learns how to redirect her anger issues somehow. No child should have to grow up around violence.
So sad.

Kevin Federline rounded up his children with ex-wife Britney Spears — sons Sean Preston and Jayden James — and his ladyfriend Victoria Prince for a family outing in Chatsworth, CA last week so that the family could pick out an Xmas tree. Here are a few photos from the fun family outing:
These are really cute photos, y’all. I am just amazed at how big both Sean P. and JJ keep growing! And, in all honesty, I must give some credit to their father K-Fed. For the most part, my beef with the man has been over the way he has continued to leech off of his famous and very wealthy ex-wife but for the better part of the last year, he has remained off the radar and seems to have finally settled into a quiet life of fatherhood. Even his relationship with Victoria Prince seems to be stable and happy and, well, I can’t really think of a bad thing to say about either of them. While I have never been an K-Fed fan, there have been glimmers of hope that the guy might turn out to be a decent person … for some time now, it appears that the guy has finally grown his ass up. While it’s unfortunate that the children have to be shuttled back and forth between their parents, I understand the relationship that Britney and Kevin share is one that is friendly enough so that their children never get caught in the middle of any drama. I’m not saying I’m a bona fide Kevin Federline fan but I can now appreciate that he seems to have matured enough to not warrant any personal attacks. I just hope he continues to be the best father he can be to his sons … if that is his main goal, then he’s deffo got a fan in me.

Tony Romo & Candice Crawford Are Gettin’ Hitched!
After spending about 16 hours unconscious yesterday, I am happy to report that I am feeling a smidge better today. I’m not sure what the heck is going on but this is the second time I’ve come down with a 24-hour bug that really knocked me on my bum. Yesterday was a pretty hellacious day and the only way to not suffer was to be asleep. The body aches stopped at around 8PM last night but I slept the rest of the night away in the hopes that I would wake up refreshed. I wouldn’t say I’m feeling refreshed exactly but I am feeling a million times better. I’m deffo on the upswing and that is the best news ever. If I continue to keep feeling better, David and I are still planning to make our way to the Orpheum Theater in downtown LA to see Peaches live in concert:
I’ve been a fan of Peaches for many years now so I’m excited to see her live on stage again. She is performing a show titled Peaches Christ Superstar that I’ve heard is pretty fantastic to see. I’ve deliberately stayed away from any show spoilers so I’m really looking forward to seeing what she’s got in store for us. To be honest, if it weren’t for tonight’s show, I’d deffo be staying my ass in bed … but it’s Peaches. I gotta see this show.
And so … another Friday is upon us again. This weekend is the last weekend before Xmas so … I hope all y’all make the most of it! Happy Friday, Happy Weekend!!
